Change The Future is the platform for everyone in society to reshape education, together.
This is not just a complaint or a vague idea - it's a real solution with a clear design and realistic objectives.
Change The Future is about empowering the people, particularly young people, to take part in the education debate. It is an organised way to collaborate on ideas, share insights, review schools, and map out plans and actions to actually change our learning environments, together.
We have taken wisdom and insight from hundreds of people and arrived at a user friendly and fun to use design, and now it is ready to be built - let's spread the word, and let's Change The Future!
3 years ago, this started as a documentary called Schools of Thought, which was comparing mainstream with alternative education, born out of us having vastly different school experiences and a fascination with what people think education is and what it can be.
We spoke to many people, learned from brilliant educationists, visited inspiring schools and discovered what young people think about their schools and how they would change them.
We wanted to open people's minds and start a national debate.
Here (below left) is an early promo for the doc, hosted at www.sotdoc.com...
Luke also travelled across 16 European countries to shoot and edit an award winning documentary, Light On The Rights, (above right) about the work of all the young people of OBESSU (Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions).
As we were filming Schools Of Thought, we wanted a way to gather information, so we decided to design a website that could find the most inspiring schools, insights, and ideas on changing education.
We were getting increasingly excited and soon realised our real dream was to actually go out and change education everywhere, not just raise awareness.
The project took on a new direction away from the documentary and it evolved into something much bigger; right now we are on the precipice of building Change The Future, where everyone has a democratic platform for change; where you can find schools that are rated on more than GCSE results and Ofsted reports, where people can share wonderful things happening now in education, where everyone, especially young people, collaborate on ideas and plans to actually change education from something that is so often felt as a chore, wedged firmly in an out-dated industrial system, into something that can be fun, exciting, life-fulfilling and launch us all into a sustainable, happy and intelligent society.
